Job Description
Job Purpose: Backup Administrator – Appliance, Tapes - Backup engineer should Provide day-to-day maintenance of backup environments, assist with capacity planning, and risk management, and make recommendations for strategic decisions. Design and implement architecture and analysis of the environments and design, install, and engineer new backup purchases. Backup administrator keen on learning and adopting Storage administration tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
• Backup and Restore management using Commvault console. • CV Agent Installation and configuration on Windows and UNIX servers. • Configuring the Disk library and physical library in Commvault • Configuration of SQL and Oracle agent base backup. • Reports configuration in Commvault. • Basic knowledge about hyperscale architecture. • Knowledge about ITIL process. • Responsible for monitoring the Backup jobs • Diagnose and troubleshoot Backup related issues. • Develop and maintain procedures and working practices for the efficient and effective running of all tasks associated with operating and controlling installed hardware and software. • Monitor updates and upgrades of firmware, patching and deployment of Backup Software. • Develop scripts and automation as needed. • Drive incidents, Major incidents and review and derive RCAs. Track all actionable till closure. • Perform User Access Management and familiar with Periodic Access Review Process. • Perform tasks for Backup and Recovery Management • Address technical queries, provide audit related data, and explain concepts to Internal / External auditors and Regulators. • Responsible for monitoring the storage area network (SAN) • Maintain storage environment characteristics, including physical array characteristics, logical disk layout, standard configurations, storage network. • Monitor updates and upgrades of firmware, monitoring of volumes, IOPS, SAN and NAS utilizations etc. • Ability to identify the connectivity between different hosts, types, and protocols and its behaviour. • Participate during DR / BCP Drills. • Co-ordinate and lead vendor support teams • Responsible for applying patches, upgrading software, and making sure that data is secured. Technical skill set: • Experienced in handling Backups using Commvault. • Proficient in backup jobs troubleshooting, upgrades, patches and schedulers. • Knowledge of NAS, share drive processes and able to drive the same on own. • Worked with handling tapes, inventory, logistics and issues related to libraries. • Knowledge on SAN, NAS, S3, NFS, CIFS protocols is an advantage. • Preferable with ITIL background or certification.
